SANJO | The brand's first store opens in the heart of Bairro Alto

In the year of its 90th anniversary, Sanjo marks another milestone in its history with the opening of its first physical store. Located in the heart of Bairro Alto, this new destination for streetwear enthusiasts offers a 40m² space immersed in shades of blue, designed in collaboration with Sky Walker (SKWR) to reflect the brand’s vibrant essence.

The partnership with SKWR, a multi-brand urban-style store and a must-visit destination in Bairro Alto, began in 2019 and evolved naturally, leading to the creation of a dedicated space for the national brand. The store’s concept is the result of a close collaboration between the two brands. “The decision was easy. As soon as we started working with Sanjo, we quickly realized that if there was one Portuguese brand we wanted to represent, it would be Sanjo,” says John Borrego, founder and owner of Sky Walker.

The project will not go unnoticed by those passing by No. 16 on Rua do Norte. Sanjo, now recognized by both Portuguese and international audiences, takes center stage in this monochromatic layout inspired by Lisbon’s essence. “We drew inspiration from the ongoing dialogue between the blue sky and the character-filled streets of Bairro Alto. We wanted to maintain the industrial and fresh aesthetic that defines us and that we have been bringing to the pop-up stores where we are already present,” says Vítor Costa, Sanjo’s creative director.

More than just a retail space, the national brand hopes to make this store a gathering place for the community while offering a unique shopping experience.

From Monday to Saturday, between 11 AM and 7 PM, anyone can step into the world of Sanjo and explore its full range of clothing and footwear. The brand is also available in multi-brand stores and pop-up stores across the country, from north to south, as well as online at sanjo.pt.
