Vans and Carpet Company join forces once again for the launch of the Old Skool 36+

Costa Mesa, California (January 8, 2025) – Set to launch on January 9, 2025, through VCU (Vans Checkerboard Union), Vans and Carpet Company have joined forces with a commitment to reinvent the classic Old Skool™ with the release of the Skate Old Skool 36+. Inspired by the OG Style 36—originally introduced in 1977 as the first version of the Old Skool—this model blends a timeless design with modern upgrades. Key features include a single-wrap foxing tape, a padded tongue for added comfort, and metal eyelets, staying true to the spirit of the iconic silhouette.

With this model, performance is at the core of everything, thanks to PopCush™ insoles for impact absorption, high-traction SickStick™ rubber soles, and durable Duracap™ overlays, specifically designed to provide comfort and longevity. Each pair is individually numbered and limited to just 1,977 units, paying homage to the year the iconic Old Skool™ was first released. The Vans Skate Old Skool 36+ by Carpet Company draws inspiration from the original Style 36 colorway, now crafted with premium materials such as crocodile-textured synthetic leather, creating a connection to last season’s Vans x Carpet Company collaboration. The launch is also accompanied by a collection of apparel and accessories, including a washed-effect sweatshirt and pants set, a holographic logo, and a custom bag featuring the Carpet logo.

As expected from Vans and Carpet Company, the Skate Old Skool 36+ feature a range of unique details: custom labels with Arabic text, velcro patches, intricate embroidery, and cut-out rubber logos on Vans’ iconic waffle-pattern sole.

The launch campaign for the Skate Old Skool 36+ explores the following question: where would the icons of skate and music culture be if Vans Old Skool had never been created in 1977? To bring this concept to life, Vans and Carpet collaborated on an ad inspired by the “butterfly effect,” creating alternate realities for legends such as J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), Ray Barbee, Omar Hassan, Tony Alva, Ronnie Sandoval, Zion Wright, and more. The video delves into the paths these cultural pioneers might have taken if the Old Skool had never existed to shape their journeys.

The Vans Skate Old Skool 36+ by Carpet Company and the collection will be available at select skate shops worldwide starting January 9, 2025.
